WWE Raw Winners And Grades

Seth Rollins And Cody Rhodes Open Raw

Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes once again teased a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match, and once again, they were interrupted. This time, by the Judgment Day.

Conspicuous by his absence was Finn Balor, who later reappeared as part of an ambush on Rhodes and Rollins.

Instead of the blockbuster Rhodes vs. Rollins match, fans were instead treated to a six-man tag team match pitting the Judgment Day against Rhodes, Rollins and Zayn.

Backstage, Rollins went on a tirade against Rhodes for challenging the Judgment Day on Rollins’ behalf. As always, Sami Zayn was able to talk both men off the ledge. Either WWE is building to an actual match between these two, or it’s WWE’s version of Dr. Dre’s Detox album—which never came out.

Opening Segment Grade: B

Chad Gable Def. Ciampa, Riddle and Ricochet

This match was presented like a consolation tournament between four men who Adam Pearce said haven’t had the best of luck lately.

Minnesota is Chad Gable’s hometown, and the fan reaction proved it.

There was a Tower of Doom spot where Gable back suplexed three Superstars.

GUNTHER is now 30 days away from the Intercontinental Championship record, so WWE will have a helluva time convincing fans that anybody is going to put an end to that.

Not only did Gable win in his hometown, he got to celebrate with his young son, who was wearing a matching singlet.

Fatal 4-Way Grade: B+

Shinsuke Nakamura Def. Bronson Reed

I could have sworn Shinsuke Nakamura turned heel three weeks ago, but fans—and WWE—are now pretending like it wasn’t a heel turn.

The way Michael Cole and Wade Barrett were putting over Bronson Reed throughout this match, you knew he was going to be losing.

The first commercial break of a commercial-free hour came five minutes early.

Fans really got into this match as Nakamura finally won with two Kinshasas.

Nakamura vs. Reed Grade: B+

Becky Lynch Calls Out Trish Stratus

Becky Lynch was in the ring for an eternity before she finally got to speak.

Zoey Stark’s promo was not without its flaws—and she did endure “what” chants—but it was a significant improvement. The more sink-or-swim time she gets to cut these promos, the better she will be.

Shayna Baszler was sporting a legit black eye to go along with a cast. She certainly looked like she was in a fight last night, but unfortunately, fans in Ford Field didn’t appreciate it.

Shayna Baszler and Stark made multiple mentions of Ronda Rousey being gone from WWE for good, something these fans cheered despite Rousey’s impact on making WWE’s women’s division a main event entity.

Becky Lynch Promo Segment Grade: B-

Shayna Baszler Def. Zoey Stark

Becky Lynch watched this match ringside while enjoying a cup of lemonade.

Zoey Stark went out of her way to allow herself to be distracted by Becky Lynch before losing the match. This was not Becky’s fault.

Backstage, Finn Balor’s BFF JD McDonagh attacked Sami Zayn, who was sporting a John Cena-like goose egg on his elbow. This means three of the four tag team champions in WWE have gone down with injury.

Ludwig Kaiser Def. Otis

Backstage, Ludwig Kaiser tried his noted rizz on Maxxine and was turned down.

Otis is also a midwest boy who was treated like a hometown hero.

Kaiser won with outside interference from Giovanni Vinci. Chad Gable made the save to another rousing reaction.

Kaiser vs. Otis Grade: C+

LA Knight And The Miz Face Off

Miz cut one of his patented fiery promos that turn him babyface. LA Knight clapped back with a strong promo of his own about how Miz is safe, compared to Knight being dangerous. Both flubbed a line here and there, but it was a great promo exchange.

Miz got personal with Knight by calling him an Attitude Era fanboy.

Fans sided with LA Knight by the end of this promo, and Knight ultimately laid out Miz with a Blunt Force Trauma.

Knight and Miz Segment: B+

The New Day Returns, Def. Viking Raiders

Michael Cole put over the Viking Raiders prior to them coming out, but the New Day answered their open challenge and it was back to Square 1 for the Erik and Ivar.

Fans popped huge for The New Day’s return. Both members of The New Day somehow looked younger and they didn’t miss a beat.

During a backstage promo, The New Day name-dropped the Street Profits in a possible sign of things to come. With Zayn and Owens both injured, if WWE has to vacate the tag team titles, the new champions should be the New Day and/or the Street Profits.

New Day vs. Viking Raiders Grade: A-

Rhodes, Rollins and Nakamura Def. Judgment Day

Backstage, Shinsuke Nakamura joined Rollins and Rhodes’ team but WWE seemed to tease he may turn on Rollins.

Prior to the match starting, Raquel Gonzalez pounced on Rhea Ripley as the two women brawled before commercial.

Michael Cole noted Becoming Cody Rhodes is tracking to be the most-watched WWE documentary on Peacock this year.

This was a good main event but all these tag team main events on Raw have started to blend together.

Sami Zayn came to the babyfaces aid, elbow taped and all, allowing Cody Rhodes to use the MITB briefcase against Finn Balor and beat him.

Rhodes and Rollins continued to bicker after the match before begrudgingly shaking hands.

Predictably, Shinsuke Nakamura laid out Rollins with a Kinshasa, further solidifying his heel turn.

WWE Raw Main Event Grade: B
