After two weeks spent in the runner-up rung on the ranking of the most popular songs in the U.K., 24kGoldn and Iann Dior’s breakout smash “Mood” has pushed forward one more rung, claiming the highest space on the roster for the first time.
The track swaps spots with Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP,” which dips to second place this frame. The cut has now spent three turns at No. 1 and just as many at No. 2. It originally debuted at No. 4 and has lived inside the top 10 for seven consecutive frames.
“Mood” is the first leader and the first top 10 smash on the U.K. singles list for both 24kGoldn and Iann Dior, two talents who had been waiting to break through for some time. Earlier this year, the former’s own “City of Angels” rose to No. 25, so he now claims a pair of top 40 wins.
So far, “Mood” isn’t featured on any full-length project, though that will likely change soon, as both acts are surely hard at work on their next projects.
“Mood” is the sixteenth No. 1 hit in the U.K. so far in 2020, a high number for this point in the year.
